Welding Australia

Legacy of Excellence
Originating as a small rural machinery workshop in the 1970s, Bowhill Engineering was founded by Brendon and Averil Hawkes. Their unwavering dedication to customer satisfaction and the “never say no” attitude paved the way for the company’s enduring success and growth.

Family-Owned and Operated
We remain a family-owned and operated business, with Jodie Hawkes leading as the Chief Finance Officer. Under her guidance, the company has flourished, earning the reputation of being the employer of choice in the Murraylands region.

Transforming Communities
Specialising in heavy and complex structural steel fabrication. From mining and infrastructure to defence and water, the company’s expertise spans various industries.

Empowering Employees for Growth
We attribute our success to our dedicated and passionate employees, whom we consider our “X Factor.” As a company, we heavily invest in employee training and development, with over 50% of staff engaged in various training programs, including metal fabricator traineeships and leadership development initiatives.

The abundance of Skills and Experience
With an impressive team of skilled professionals, Bowhill Engineering tackles even the most complicated projects with precision and innovation. The company’s state-of-the-art workshop, encompassing a 3,500m² floor area and five hectares of hardstand, supports its commitment to delivering high-quality results.

High-Profile Projects
Currently, we are proudly involved in several high-profile projects. A prime example is our work on the Cable Stayed Pedestrian Bridge project in Canberra, where we leveraged innovative technologies to achieve a stunning contemporary architectural effect. Another noteworthy endeavour was the Oaklands Railway Station project—a striking architectural statement in South Australia. This intricate structure demanded 200 tonnes of steelwork and unmatched accuracy and diligence, setting us apart from our competitors.

The final installation stages of a Head Frame for Oz Minerals showcase our expertise in constructing impressive structures, standing tall at 60 meters with four legs measuring 2.6 meters each in diameter—a true testament to our capabilities. Additionally, we have bridge girder work underway at Sydney Gateway and Mt Derrimut, and Temporary Steelwork projects in Bridgewater, Tasmania. Our personnel meticulously conducted post-weld grinding on a welded box section, ensuring the bridge’s durability and longevity.

Driven by Core Values
Bowhill Engineering’s core values, integrity, teamwork, and commitment to client success drives the company’s approach to every project. Our goal is not just to deliver projects, but to create a positive impact in the Australian engineering landscape.

Recognition of Excellence
As a testament to our outstanding contributions, Bowhill Engineering is honoured with Weld Australia’s 2022 Excellence Award for Company of the Year—Fabrication (Small) in the South Australia category. This prestigious recognition solidifies Bowhill Engineering’s position as a leader in the industry.

Continuing the Journey
With a focus on continuous growth and innovation, we are gearing up to build a third workshop, leveraging cutting-edge 3D computer-aided design technologies to enhance our capacity and capabilities.

As Bowhill Engineering continues to reach new heights, we remain committed to delivering exceptional results on every project we undertake. With our unwavering focus on innovation, quality, and client satisfaction, we are ready to take on the challenges of tomorrow’s most prestigious projects.
