Michael joined the Bowhill Engineering team as an Apprentice Metal Fabricator in 2020, fresh from finishing Year 12 at Swan Reach Area School.

Swan Reach Area School gave Michael a great start towards a Trade career supporting him in completing not only Certificate II Engineering Pathways at TAFE SA Berri but also Certificate II in Doorways to Construction and a Cert II in Horticulture, Michael made the most of opportunities available to build his resume to be “work ready” including senior first aid and white card completion.

Attending Bowhill Engineering with VET Teacher, Greg Griffiths and a small group of students, Michael applied for an Apprenticeship position following the visit.  Working after school & during school holidays, Michael’s work ethic meant he had opportunities available to move straight into work from school but what really captured his attention about Bowhill Engineering was the “big stuff that you build”.  Completing work experience with us in November, Michael impressed us with his abilities on a welder, his proactiveness in finding new tasks and how keen he was to help, learn and ask questions, we were that impressed he started with Boweng 10 days later!

Michael has great attention to detail and quality of work, he’s a quiet achiever and is driven and committed to being great at what he does, we’re extremely proud of the quality level Michael has set amongst our Apprentices and he has a great future as highly competent metal fabrication tradesperson.
