Innovative Methodologies: This project was a design and construct structural/mechanical scope with a tight timeline. Getting the strength into the structure without a bulky frame was important. Careful analysis by our engineering consultant and coordination with drafting, client and Boweng as the fabricator allowed a streamlined design process with a very professional outcome.
Technical Challenges: Structure has to handle a dynamic 50t loading yet needed to be compact enough to align compaction wheels at the specified centres. We were able to achieve this through the use of fabricated box sections strategically designed with strength where it was needed. Use of 3D software and it’s ability to provide much better visualisation allowed design to accommodate improved articulation of the machine far beyond what was previously possible.
Successful Outcomes: Much cleaner, more professional and rugged machine with many more safety considerations whilst also achieving significantly improved maintenance features.
