Bowhill Engineering is proud to announce our recent achievement of being shortlisted for the Australian Steel Institute’s (ASI) inaugural Steel Sustainability Awards. This prestigious recognition showcases our commitment to sustainability and innovation in the steel industry.

Through our submission of the R2P Regency Road Bridge Temp Works, we have demonstrated our leadership in sustainable engineering practices, emphasising the repurposing and efficient use of steel. This honour affirms our dedication to advancing sustainable solutions and marks a significant milestone in our ongoing journey to redefine industry standards.

The Importance Of Sustainability In The Steel Industry

Sustainability in the steel industry is vital as it addresses environmental, economic, and social challenges by promoting the efficient use of resources, reducing waste, and lowering carbon emissions.

Sustainable practices lead to innovative designs that support the industry’s long-term viability and sustainability goals.

The Project That Set Us Apart: R2P Regency Road Bridge Temp Works

The R2P Regency Road Bridge Temporary Works project exemplifies our commitment to sustainability and innovation. This project required large-scale temporary steelwork to support the preassembly of two 80-meter-long bridge segments.

By repurposing two-thirds of the necessary 300 tons of steel from previous projects, we managed to not only meet our requirements but also demonstrate the practicality of repurposing materials in large-scale construction efforts.

For us at Bowhill Engineering, the R2P Regency Road Bridge Temp Works project was an opportunity to share our story of sustainability (Innovation through repurposing). This project has set a new benchmark for sustainability in construction.

Even though we didn’t win the top prize, we’ve been honoured with a shortlist nomination for the Australian Steel Institute’s inaugural Steel Sustainability Awards.

This recognition for Bowhill Engineering is a testament to our leadership and innovation in sustainability within the steel industry. Being shortlisted places us at the forefront of companies championing sustainable practices, demonstrating our capacity for open thinking and engineering solutions that have a lasting positive impact on the environment and the industry.

As we reflect on this achievement and look toward the future, we remain committed to innovating and advancing sustainable solutions.
