Bowhill Engineering integrates FabStation with Microsoft HoloLens to bring 3D engineering models directly into the workshop. Using mixed reality, the digital model is overlaid onto the physical steel assembly at full scale, giving our fabrication and quality teams an immediate visual reference throughout production.
This technology supports the verification of component locations, orientation, fit-up and assembly completeness, helping identify potential discrepancies before they progress further through fabrication. Complex details can be viewed in their real-world position, improving communication between engineering, production and quality teams while reducing reliance on interpreting traditional two-dimensional drawings alone.
FabStation can also be accessed through tablets, extending the same model-based workflow across the workshop. By connecting verified engineering data with the physical assembly, Bowhill strengthens quality assurance, reduces rework and supports more efficient delivery of complex steel structures.
Key benefits:
- Full-scale visualisation of 3D models over physical assemblies
- Earlier identification of missing, misplaced or incorrectly orientated components
- Improved fit-up and assembly verification
- Clearer communication between engineering, fabrication and quality teams
- Reduced rework and more efficient inspection processes
- Digital traceability supporting consistent quality outcomes
