We welcome you to know more about Demi’s Traineeship story….
Finishing school in 2012, I went straight out into the work force. I worked in the Horse Racing Industry at a stable as a full time Trackwork Rider/Stable Hand. This job certainly got me up early & kept me busy. Then at night, I made pizzas at my local pizza shop.
In 2017 at the age of 22, I commenced my full time, 18 month training contract in Certificate III Business Administration with Bowhill Engineering. I was the second administration trainee that Bowhill Engineering had taken on and I’m proud to see after 5yrs that another 3x trainees have also been given this opportunity.
At the time, the company was undergoing a quick period of growth, and I showed early strengths in skills transferrable to other aspects of the company including Project Management Assistance securing the opportunity to step up from Reception duties to Project Assistant in 2019 upon the completion of my training contract.
This traineeship opportunity showed that it could open many doors, provide a step into the next level from basic administrative duties to contributing to a highly skilled project team and build a career for myself. Through this position and as an outcome of the traineeship, I have established a long-term focus considering future plans & long-term results. I have found a much more positive mind set, prioritising what is important, giving me something I can work towards.
I have gained not only a qualification but a promotion, lifetime skills, and feel a sense of belonging in my involvement in the community.
