Project scope was a duplication of Majors rd vehicular bridge, one in which Bowhill supplied the steel work for originally during the Southern expressway project back in 2013. This new scope entailed the delivery of Qty 18 of fabricated three-piece beams to Acciona to instal on site. The beams were SAW welded and surface treated to match existing, the scope also increased by ways of a variation for the supply of the temporary bracing steelwork required for site install.
Mayors RD Bridge extension
This project is the framework for the expansion of the existing 2 lane overpass into a 6-lane overpass this will allow traffic to flow onto the southern expressway in both directions.
The structure consisted of 18, 3-piece girders ranging from 23 to 31 metres long and weighing between 8 and 14 tonnes.
By working with the client and installation contractor we were able to design and incorporate temporary works into the structure that assisted with installation and will support the structure during the pouring of the deck.
